My youngest daughter Doodle recently presented me with a report she had written in school. The title? “Why I Need a Pet Mongoose.” She could have picked any pet (or potential pet) to write about, but she picked the mongoose. ![]()
Are you ready for her reasons for wanting such a pet?

I really appreciated Doodle’s concern for my allergies and the fact that I don’t like snakes (at all!) and that those two things were factors in choosing her pet.
Of course, the report wouldn’t be complete without an illustration. Sunshine cheerfully stepped up to the plate for this assignment…
So, are we getting a pet mongoose? Hmmmm…not anytime soon!
I’d love to hear about the most interesting pet you’ve ever owned…

How awesome are your kids! We recently added two ferrets to our home…which look a bit like the mongoose drawing, actually. Hugs my friend. (Glad to hear you aren’t getting a mongoose any time soon!)
Dawn, I bet you have the coolest house on the block! Two ferrets?! Wow! Hugs to you as well and thank you for stopping by.
Well, actually not any unusual pets. Lots of ‘normal” ones.
although I did debate on getting a mouse once as research for a novel I was writing. Decided to study a book from the pet shop about mice instead. lol Fun post, Penny.
Carole! So nice to see you! Your comment gave me a good laugh! I’m so glad you chose to just study a book from the pet shop rather than have a pet mouse.
But you now have me very curious about your book.
Love the story about the mongoose. Let’s see, we get as unusual as having various size turtles. The kids have a few frogs that live in an aquarium as well. On occassion they’d bring me a huge frog that would find it’s way to escape the pond outside eventually.
How awesome to have pet turtles – and in various sizes too! My kids would love to come live at your house, Rebecca! When I was a kid, we caught wild frogs and kept them as pets for a short time. I loved your story about the huge frog!
You have some smart girls. What ages are they. Doodles gave very good reasons for having one. I too am afraid of snakes, tho when I was a kid we lived out in the country. maybe I didn’t worry about things then as now! sunshine is a very good artist. Just look at how good the head is. Hope she keeps up her talent for that. I had several talented in art but all didn’t keep on with it. One even drew faces, which to me would be the hardest.
Hi Maxie! Thank you so much for your sweet compliments about my girls. Sunshine was honored to hear your compliment about her artwork. Wow! I agree, to be able to draw faces would be the hardest and takes so much talent.
I appreciate you stopping by, Maxie. Have a wonderful week!
