I am honored to have Author K. Dawn Byrd as my guest today. She is giving away a gift card for a free download of her latest book Mistaken Identity to one lucky commenter! Plus, those who are subscribers to this blog will receive two entries. Giveaway ends June 30. So, without further ado, here’s Dawn!
Hello Dawn. Thank you for being here today. I am excited about your recent release titled Mistaken Identity. Please give us a short blurb about your book.
Eden Morgan longs for a boyfriend of her own, an impossible goal when her best friend, Lexi Branson, gets all the attention and all the guys. When they fall in love with the same guy,Edenbelieves she doesn’t have a chance. She can only hope that sometimes the good girl gets the guy.
Your book sounds great and I love the cover! What was your inspiration behind writing this book and what do you hope readers will take away from your book?
I admire Christian teenagers so much. We’ll never know what they go through as they stand for their faith. I wrote this book to inspire those who might be wondering if it’s worth it all. My advice is to keep on keeping on!
That’s awesome advice, Dawn, and I admire you for writing a book that both young adults and adults alike can enjoy. Speaking of books, can you give us the titles of some of your other books?
Queen of Hearts (WWII romantic suspense, 2010)
Killing Time (contemporary romantic suspense set in a jail, 2010)
This Time for Keeps (contemporary romance, coming in October 2011)
The Zoe Mack Mystery Series (young adult mystery-romance, debuts in January)
One lucky commenter will win a wonderful prize. Can you tell us about the giveaway? I’d planned on giving away some mouse pads, but my supplier decided to stop carrying them. So, we’ll do a gift card for a free copy of the book instead.
Do you have a favorite Bible verse? Jeremiah 29:11- For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD , “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
I love it because it reminds me that God knows me personally and he has plans for me. He knows my future. He holds me in the palm of His hand.
I agree, Dawn. That’s one of my favorite Bible verses as well. So, where do you see yourself in five years? In otherwords, what are your hopes, dreams, and goals?
In five years, I hope not much has changed in my life. I told someone today that I feel so blessed. I’m sure I’ll still be working the day job and I love so much and writing at night.
And now for one of my favorite questions to ask…if you were given a million dollars to start a charity, what type of charity would you start and why? I’m a huge animal lover. I’d fund spay/neuter clinics so that there aren’t so many unwanted animals born.
I love your answer, Dawn! Can you tell me what’s next on your writing agenda? I just signed a contract for a young adult mystery series. My heroine, Zoe Mack, is a lot like Nancy Drew, but more mature and there will be a lot more romance in the series. The first will debut in January.
Ooh, that sounds like it’s going to be a great series! And last, but not least, where can readers connect with you? (website, blog, twitter, FB, etc.)

I agree, Jo! Thank you for stopping by 🙂
Great interview Dawn and Penny! Nice to meet you, Dawn. 🙂 What a beautiful cover! There is a definite need for good Christian fiction for teens. There wasn’t much to choose from when I was a teenager, and it’s so nice to have alternatives nowadays to the many vampire stories being written.
I’m an animal lover too. Spaying and neutering is so important. In my college speech class (eons ago:) I wrote a persuasive speech about spaying/neutering. I always loved when Bob Barker (The Price is Right) finished the show with, “Remember to have your pets spayed or neutered!” 🙂
God Bless you in your writing!
Kerry
Hi Kerry! Thank you for stopping by and leaving an encouraging comment for Dawn 🙂 I agree with you that there is such a need for good Christian fiction and I’m so thankful that authors like Dawn are filling that need!
BTW, I had to laugh about your Bob Barker quote. I loved that quote too!
Blessings,
Penny
This looks like a really good book! The main character sounds like someone most girls can relate to, myself included. Thanks for sharing!

Candidkerry: I love my cover. I think the artist did a great job. It’s very young adult looking.
The title and book description definitely make me curious for more! And the Zoe Mack series sounds interesting, too. I loved reading Nancy Drew when I was younger.
